We started Toronto Basement Underpinning in 2006 because we saw too many homeowners hire general contractors for structural work. Underpinning is engineered specialty work: the staging, the curing, the engineer coordination, the City of Toronto permit pipeline. A generalist crew that does kitchens, decks, and the occasional underpinning project just doesn't develop the rhythm.
We do underpinning. Then everything that pairs with it: waterproofing, sump pumps, foundation repair, drawings & permits, basement finishing. One trade, deeply understood, executed across hundreds of Toronto homes.
Today we run 20 active crews across the GTA, the largest dedicated underpinning workforce in the city. Marcus Tremblay
Senior Project Manager
Marcus manages the City of Toronto permit pipeline and structural engineering coordination for Toronto Basement Underpinning. He has shepherded over 200 underpinning projects through Toronto's plan review and Committee of Adjustment process, focusing on legal-apartment compliance under Ontario Building Code Section 9.36.

Honest Diagnosis First
Every project starts with an engineered site visit. The structural engineer's report tells you which scope actually fits — including when underpinning is not the right answer. We don't pad scope.
